Tanya M. Haven is the Co-Founder and Associate Director of the Nubian Cultural Center. She has worked in the Social Service field for over twenty years, with jobs ranging from Title XX/Youth Worker, Case Management, Crisis Intervention/Placement Stabilization, and a Program Manger for Beatrice Caffrey's Teen Reach program. Tanya holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Master of Arts Degree in Inner City Studies Education from Northeastern Illinois University. She's also certified in Food Service Manager from the Chicago Department of Public Health and Portable & Editing Producer at Chicago Access Network Television (CAN TV). Tanya expert skills in implementing youth programs, community collaboration and fundraising have help her become a valuable resource in underserved communities. She received an award in 2001 for her dedicated service to Beatrice Caffrey Youth Service, and in 2005 she received a Recognition Award from Argosy Women's Conference for outstanding performance in the Grand Boulevard community. Tanya's desire to work with children started at the age of 14, while being employed as a summer youth worker. During that time she knew she wanted to aide and assist children and provide them educational, cultural, and recreational activities. Her ultimate goal is to provide a safe haven for children, where they can express their artistic and creative talents. |
