Deeply rooted in her African/American Heritage, Ms. Daniels has the desire to leave
a legacy to children who are creatively expressive regardless of age, size, gender
and ethnicity. She founded the BCYS Prevention through Dance Program at Beatrice
Caffrey Youth Services in 1995, as a creative approach to combat the negative
influences in urban communities. In 2008 and 2009, Ms. Daniels received the
Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs Neighborhood Arts Grant, where she provides
Healing through the Arts Multi-disciplined Dance Workshops to various Public and
Charter Schools who lack culturally enriched arts programs in Chicago. It is her
hope that the Nubian Cultural Center will give children and their families an
empowering alternative, and an optimistic and purposeful future.
